How to find out more

There is a wide range of activity taking place during the consultation to enable people to find out more and ask questions. These include:

  1. Copies of the overview leaflet have been sent to all homes in West Cumbria and have also been made available in places like libraries, council offices and leisure centres.  A further newsletter will be sent to all homes in late February.
  2. You can also read our overview pages on this website.
  3. There have been advertorials in papers across Cumbria providing details about our initial opinions and how to get more involved.
  4. You can watch the DVD.
  5. There is an article in Cumbria County Council’s Your Cumbria which is being delivered to all homes in the county in February.
  6. Community events have been held across Cumbria.
  7. Briefings about the consultation are being run by groups and organisations across the county. If you would like to get a copy of our DVD to show at a meeting and/or you would like us to send additional consultation packs for your group, please let us know.
  8. We have prepared special materials for young people which have been made available to schools and youth groups to help them discuss the issues involved. Please contact Jenny Willis at jenny@3kq.co.uk if you are interested in finding out more about this.
  9. We are organising a webinar, an event that will be shown live on the internet on the 6th of March, so people who were unable to attend a community event can watch an event and ask questions.
  10. We are providing updates on our Facebook page at http://on.fb.me/fbZzir and on @westcumbriamrws on Twitter.
  11. We sent out our regular e-bulletin at the start of the consultation early in January before the community events started, and the next one will got out in early March to remind people of the closing date to send responses to the consultation.
  12. We are also advertising on some buses, phone boxes and billboards between January and March to help further raise awareness of the consultation.
  13. You can see a list of other useful websites, including a selection of organisations with alternative views about geological disposal and the MRWS process. A number of these organisations will also be providing their own views on the issues that would be involved in taking part in the search for somewhere to put a repository.
